Major worry amidst failed security along Jordanian border

IDF and Politicians raise alarm over security risks of Jordan border infiltration

There was an infiltration into one of the settlements on the Jordan border.  Senior IDF officials and many politicians, including MK Almog Cohen, are warning against incursions into settlements from the Jordanian side: "I warned before October 7, and I am warning again here," he said.

MK Almog Cohen (Otzma Yehudit) was interviewed today (Sunday) on 103fm and warned about breaches in the fence on the Jordanian side: "I warned before October 7, I am warning again here, specifically about the importance of the peace agreement with Jordan, maintaining the border as hermetically sealed, closed."

"I request to hold an urgent discussion in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, focusing on the breach that occurred on the Jordanian border, including an incursion into one of the settlements."

As a reminder, about two months ago, an IDF soldier and a reserve fighter were lightly to moderately injured in a shooting attack carried out by two terrorists who infiltrated from Jordan wearing military uniforms near the Neot HaKikar settlement, south of the Dead Sea. A female and male reservist who were dispatched to the scene eliminated the terrorists who opened fire at them. The IDF spokesperson updated that "additional reinforcement forces have been deployed to the location and are scanning the ground and air for another terrorist who has apparently fled the scene." The public is required to follow the instructions of the security forces.

Following the manhunt, the roads towards the Arava and the Dead Sea were closed to traffic. The IDF is deploying significant air power for the manhunt with reconnaissance planes from Squadron 100 and an attack helicopter.

This is not the first time, of course, but the residents of the area repeatedly warn of the fear of infiltration from the direction of Jordan.
