Iranian MP says attack to go ahead despite ceasefire deal

Senior official: Iran to retaliate against Israel despite Hezbollah truce

Various leaders in Iran including Senior Iranian MP Fadahossein Maleki,  Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and  Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have all made continued threats against Israel. This includes claims that an Iran attack will still go ahead despite the recent Hezbollah-Israel ceasefire agreement. Here are the details.

Senior Iranian MP Fadahossein Maleki stated that Iran will proceed with its retaliatory attack on Israel despite the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. "Netanyahu sought a ceasefire with Hezbollah to ease Iran's anger, but these two issues are unrelated, and Operation True Promise 3 will continue," Maleki told the Didban news website on Thursday.

His comments followed remarks from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who suggested that the ceasefire might ease tensions between Iran and Israel, saying, "It depends on the behavior of Israel," when asked if it could lead to de-escalation.

Meanwhile, Iranian-backed militias in Iraq have confirmed they will continue their attacks on Israel, despite the ceasefire in Lebanon. Sources within the Islamic Resistance in Iraq told Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Akhbar newspaper that the militias are not bound by the ceasefire and will continue to target Israel with drones.

A few days earlier, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s senior advisor, Ali Larijani, indicated that Iran was still planning its response to Israel's strikes in October.
