With the consensus of both the coalition and the opposition, the law to revoke National Insurance benefits for terrorists passed its second and third readings in the Knesset. The initiator of the law, MK Yulia Malinovsky, stated: "This is a statement that the summer camp is over and the circus has closed."
It was revealed that terrorists from Gaza received benefits.
According to the proposed law, the national insurance allowance will be frozen until a final verdict is reached that convicts a person in custody until the end of the proceedings and suspected of a terrorist offense. The same applies to terrorists. The National Insurance allowance of a convicted terrorist will be automatically and permanently revoked.
In the explanatory notes to the proposal, it is written: "The law determines the eligibility of insured individuals for benefits in various branches. For some benefits, such as benefits under the Work Injury Branch, even non-residents of Israel, and those residing outside of Israel, may be eligible. During the Iron Swords War, it became clear that there are benefits paid even to residents of Gaza who were involved in terrorist activities."
"The law passed with consensus from both the coalition and the opposition."
The initiator of the law, MK Yulia Malinovsky from Yisrael Beiteinu, said after the vote: "The absurd and surreal situation where terrorists who harmed or planned to carry out terrorist acts in Israel received social security benefits at the expense of Israeli citizens ends today. I am happy that the law passed with the consensus of both the coalition and the opposition. There is a statement here that the summer camp is over and the circus has closed. I will continue to fight in every possible way against terrorism and anyone who tries to harm the citizens of Israel."
Chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, MK Avigdor Lieberman, also addressed the approval of the law and said: "Under the leadership of MK Yulia Malinovsky, the Knesset has put an end to the moral distortion: terrorists who have murdered and raped will no longer receive a single shekel from the state."
