In spite of reports that Iran has canceled its planned attack on Israel, Michael Knights, a senior researcher at the Washington Institute for Middle East Policy, sets out why he believes Iran has begun preparing for an attack against Israel from Iraqi territory.

Knight is of the opinion that Iran has already smuggled ballistic missiles hidden in water or oil tankers into Iraq to use them in response to Israeli strikes on Iranian soil.

Meanwhile, Israel points to a report that its last attack on Iran damaged a secret component that could have been used by Iran to develop a nuclear bomb, and that now it will find it very difficult to do so.

According to Walla, senior Israeli and American officials revealed more information about the consequences of the attack, saying: "They conducted scientific activity that could lay the foundation for the production of nuclear weapons. It was a top secret thing. A small part of the Iranian government knew about it, but most of the Iranian government didn't," a senior U.S. official said.

A senior Israeli official stressed that "this is equipment that the Iranians will need in the future if they want to advance towards a nuclear bomb. Now they don't have it anymore and it's not trivial. They will have to find another solution and we will see that."
