Air raid sirens sounded in Haifa's Carmel area Saturday evening as approximately ten rockets were launched from Lebanon. While the Iron Dome successfully intercepted several projectiles, multiple rockets made impact, with at least eight interceptions observed over the city.
Emergency services reported a direct hit on a synagogue in central Carmel, resulting in structural damage to the shul and surrounding structures, a car catching fire and power outages in the surrounding neighborhood. Some people were lightly injured and others are suffering from shock.
Magen David Adom (MDA), Fire and Rescue services, and Israel Police have deployed to multiple locations across the city. First responders continue to conduct thorough sweeps of the impact sites to ensure no additional casualties.
This evening's attack represents the second such incident in the Haifa area today, occurring amid heightened tensions along the Lebanese border.
Earlier today, the IDF announced a significant tactical shift, deploying artillery units inside Lebanese territory for the first time since the security zone era to enhance response capabilities against such attacks.
