Amid reports of progress towards a ceasefire agreement in the north, a senior official confirmed to the 'Israel Hayom' website that the war in the north is expected to end within just a few weeks this comes soon after the IDF considered an expansion of their ground offensive in Lebanon.
According to the senior official, the timeline for concluding the campaign in Lebanon is near and includes just a few weeks. It was also reported that as part of the agreement based on Resolution 1701, Israel will receive full American support for its right to act against the transfer of Iranian weapons into Lebanon and against Hezbollah's entry into the area near the border.
The senior official noted that Israel is nearing the end of the campaign in the north, but "we will not withdraw forces until an arrangement that meets the security needs of the State of Israel is reached."
Israel continues to target Hezbollah operatives through its ground offensive as well as uncovering terror tunnels and weapons caches in order to pursue the goal of creating a secure environment in north Israel for evacuees to be able to return to.
