Because of the security situation

As a result of repeated cancellations: Ben Gurion's Terminal 1 will close for 5 months

Due to the security situation and the repeated cancellations of foreign airlines, the Airports Authority has decided to close Terminal 1 for international flights, and it will only operate for domestic flights.

The Airports Authority announced today (Monday) that Terminal 1 will be closed for five months for international flights. Therefore, from November 1 until March 29, 2025, all international flights will take off from Terminal 3 only. Terminal 1 will operate only for domestic flights, until further notice, due to the situation and the reduction of flights run by foreign and international companies.

The website of the Airports Authority stated: "Due to the security situation, we recommend that you check with the airline you are flying with regarding your flight. We also recommend that you find out which terminal your flight departs from before you come to the airport."

Terminal 1 only re-opened in June, about eight months since flights were suspended due to the October 7 massacre. Despite this, many airlines canceled their flights to and from Israel, including British Airways, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines and Swiss, which announced that it will only fly to/from Israel on November 11.

The same goes for Eurowings, which extended its flight suspension until November 30. These companies offered passengers who are affected by the cancellations the option to either cancel their reservations free of charge or to make a new reservation for another date.
