A fighter jet that began taking off from Ramat David Airbase for an attack in Lebanon nearly collided with another fighter jet. This was due to incorrect clearance by the control tower at the base. But by miracle and a swift response by the pilots, the heavy disaster was avoided.

News 12 journalist Nir Dvori reveals this morning a very unusual safety incident that almost ended in a major disaster.

According to the report by Dvori, two days ago, a fighter jet that began taking off from the Ramat David base for an attack in Lebanon nearly collided with another fighter jet. This was as a result of incorrect approval by the control tower at the base.

Dvori detailed the sequence of events step by step and wrote: "Two two-seater F-16s are waiting on the runway for clearance." Meanwhile, the crew in the control tower is clearing a third fighter jet to cross the runway. The first plane, heavy with fuel and armament, ignites its afterburner and begins to taxi. When he reached a speed of 250 km/h, just before take-off – he spotted the third plane in front of him.

Dvori continues and notes that "immediately, the pilot of the first plane spots him, shuts off the engine, and reduces speed." He even manages to steer the plane, despite its heavy weight. Two fighter jets pass each other unharmed.

The IDF spokesperson stated: "An accident between two fighter jets during takeoff was averted due to incorrect takeoff clearance given by the control tower, while another aircraft was on the runway." The teams responded quickly and professionally, preventing a serious safety incident. The incident will be investigated, there is no property damage and no injuries.
