Egyptian President Abdel Fatah a-Sisi gave a speech today (Sunday) in which he proposed a ceasefire of two days in the Gaza Strip and an unspecified number of imprisoned Palestinian terrorists in exchange for four hostages.
The proposal comes as Hamas has refused to budge from its original demand that any hostage deal involve a complete cessation of the war, a full IDF withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and a significant release of terrorists held in Israeli prisoners.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has similarly hinted at openness for a ceasefire of two weeks in exchange for some of the hostages, but there has been no sign of Hamas openness for either partial proposal.
