Three IDF soldiers fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip on Friday: Captain Barak Israel Sagan, 22, from Petah Tikva, a platoon commander in the tank commanders course in Battalion 196, Sergeant Ido Ben-Zvi, 21, from Shomrat, an armored soldier, and Sergeant Hillel Eliyahu Ovadia, 22, from Jerusalem, an armored soldier.

They were killed in an IED explosion in Jabalia. Their families were notified.

The rabbis and students of the pre-military yeshiva in Bruchin eulogized the late yeshiva student Hillel Ovadia and wrote about him: "Gentle in soul and with a heart of gold. A true Torah scholar. Enlisted with the wonderful group at the end of third class."

A video obtained by Channel 12 News shows Hillel accompanying his friend Ari Spitz, who was critically wounded in an explosion in a booby-trapped building in Gaza. Together with other friends, he walked by his bedside, accompanied by musical instruments and applause, in order to lift his spirits.
