After speaking out against Israel: The President of France met with the families of the hostages

The President of France, who has stirred controversy in recent days following his call for a weapons embargo on Israel, met with the families of Ofir Calderon and Ohad Yahalomi, who were kidnapped by Hamas in Gaza.

A few days after calling for a weapons embargo on Israel and "forgetting" to mention Hamas's role in the October 7 massacre, French President Emmanuel Macron met yesterday with the families of hostages who hold French citizenship.

The families, representing the hostages Ofer Calderon and Ohad Yahalomi, were received by President Macron and his wife, as well as by Prime Minister Borne and her husband.

At the meeting were Nisan Calderon, the brother of the kidnapped Ofer Calderon, along with his wife, Sharon. The Yehudai family was represented by Efrat Yehudai, the sister of Ohad Yehudai, and Bat-Sheva Yehudai, Ohad's wife, along with their children Eitan and Yael. Eitan, the 12-year-old, was released after 52 days in Hamas captivity, while his father Ohad remains in captivity.

From the families' headquarters, it was stated, "The family members expressed deep gratitude to the French leadership for the time and attention they provided." President Macron assured them that he is personally involved in the efforts to free the hostages and is working on the issue "day by day, hour by hour," which gave the families a bit of patience and the strong feeling that France is actively working through all possible channels to ensure the release of all 101 hostages, including their loved ones.
