Selichot events planned to take place Tuesday evening at the Western Wall were canceled for the general public, following stricter Home Front Command guidelines in Jerusalem and limiting gatherings to 30 people in open areas.

Instead, prayers will be broadcast live as was done during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation said that "the main Selichot ceremony will take place in a limited format in the Western Wall Tunnels and in accordance with the instructions of the Home Front Command. At midnight the dissolution of vows, and at 00:15 a.m. the recitation of Selichot.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation asks the public to act in accordance with the guidelines and invites to connect to the live broadcast." In accordance with the Home Front Command's assessment of the situation, it was decided to change the guidelines for the public, and restrictions will now be imposed on gatherings in the central region and Jerusalem as well. The new policy will be in effect from today at 14:00 until Saturday night at 20:00.
