International reports reveal that during the night, Mikati met with American officials and signed a ceasefire agreement with Israel, contrary to Hezbollah's stance and without the organization’s coordination.
After attending the UN General Assembly and participating in a Security Council meeting regarding the explosions in Lebanon, Mikati met with two senior American officials. First, he met with Amos Hochstein, the White House special envoy for the Middle East, who has been coordinating negotiations with Hezbollah for nearly a year to achieve a ceasefire and stabilization in the north.
Following this, Mikati met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. During the meeting, the Lebanese Prime Minister agreed to the American and Israeli demands for a ceasefire, and according to reports, he signed a general agreement with Blinken. However, it has now been reported that he did this without coordination and against Hezbollah's position, leaving the implementation of the agreement uncertain.
