Hostages, Starmer

Oy vey Keir: Starmer's call for the return of the Israeli 'sausages' goes viral | WATCH (and laugh!)

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made an unfortunate verbal error during a speech on the Gaza war, accidentally referring to Israeli hostages as "sausages."

During a Labor Party conference on Tuesday, Keir Starmer addressed the ongoing Gaza conflict and Israel-Hezbollah tensions

“I call again for restraint and de-escalation at the border between Lebanon and Israel. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink,” he said.

Here's where it gets funny: Starmer the added: "I call again for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The return of the sausages," before quickly correcting to "hostages."

Despite the immediate correction, video clips of the error spread rapidly across social media platforms, overshadowing the serious nature of his address. The internet, as it has done before, mocked him brutally with non-stop memes.

Sky News host Andrew Bolt commented: "Where are the great leaders of the West... Slip of the tongue, I've got it, but instantly it has made him a laughing stock around the world."

This gaffe follows other recent incidents involving political leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden's mistaken reference to Haifa instead of Rafah in the context of the Gaza war.
