The Devastating Impact of War on IDF Soldiers

Hundreds of soldiers, like Sergeant Eli Tamir, have returned home, but the scars of war have left them nearly unrecognizable as revealed by the Israel National news.

Eli lies awake in his apartment, feeling the walls close in around him. While his wife sleeps peacefully, his breaths come in rapid gasps, and sweat beads on his forehead as vivid memories of chaos—gunfire, shouts, and the bloodshed of Gaza—replay painfully in his mind.

Just two weeks after his return, the war continues to haunt Eli. Trauma fills his days with sudden bursts of anger and a constant sense of threat. Months spent confronting brutal terrorists have left lasting effects.

Many soldiers like Eli are struggling with severe anxiety, depression, and intense flashbacks. Therapy is essential for these individuals and their families, especially since veterans face a significantly higher suicide rate compared to the general population. Unfortunately, despite initial state funding, many cannot afford the ongoing care they desperately need.

In response to this urgent need, the organization Shomrei Yisroel has launched an emergency campaign to provide vital emotional support and therapy for our IDF heroes.

These soldiers have faced unimaginable challenges to ensure our nation's safety. After all they have sacrificed for the Jewish people, it is crucial for them to hear one simple message: “Thank you.”
