First proof of life: Recording of Matan Angrest to be played tomorrow

During a hostage families rally on Saturday, a recording of IDF soldier Matan Angrest, abducted on October 7, will offer the first sign of life from Gaza.

Anat Angrest, mother of IDF soldier Matan Angrest, who was abducted during the October 7 Hamas massacre, is set to unveil a recording showing the first sign of life from her son at a demonstration calling for the release of hostages on Saturday night.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum confirmed that the recording will be played during their weekly demonstration in Tel Aviv after Shabbat.

The recording, discovered by IDF forces in Gaza several months ago, features Matan pleading with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his rescue. Anat Angrest had previously disclosed at a July rally that she had received a video of Matan during his captivity, describing herself as “lucky” among the families of hostages for having received this sign of life.

The Angrest family has since made the decision to allow the recordings to be made public.
