Sinwars' message, Head of Hamas

First Message from Sinwar Since becoming Head of Hamas

For the first time since he assumed the role of head of Hamas’s political wing, replacing Ismail Haniyeh, Yehya Sinwar has sent a message from his hiding place.

In his communication, Sinwar extended congratulations to the newly elected president of Algeria and expressed gratitude for his support of the Palestinian people.

According to Ynet, Sinwar, who heads both the political and military wings of Hamas, sent a congratulatory letter to the newly re-elected Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In his message, Sinwar stated, “I congratulate President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the renewed trust of the Algerian people in him as the President of Algeria.”

The message further included, “Sinwar reiterates his appreciation for Algeria’s role in standing with the Palestinian people and defending their rights in international forums.”

Sinwar had previously made one official statement in October, where he expressed willingness to agree to “the immediate release of all captives” in exchange for all Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

This is Sinwar’s second statement since the war and the first since he decided to take over as the head of Hamas’s political wing following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran over a month ago.
