According to Israeli assessments, 101 hostages remain in Hamas captivity. On October 7th, 247 hostages, both Israelis and foreigners, were abducted to the Gaza Strip. Of these, 117 have returned alive, either through deals or rescue operations. The IDF recovered 37 bodies, with 35 of these found in Gaza. The number of hostages currently considered alive (though not with certainty) stands at 66, according to data provided today in Israel.

It is noted that during various operations, eight hostages were rescued alive. Additional operations, some planned based on intelligence and others discovered by chance, led to the recovery of 37 bodies of hostages. Some of these were killed inside Israel on October 7th, while others were killed during their captivity. Furthermore, Hamas released two hostages with American citizenship, Yehudit Ra'anan and her daughter Natalie, who had come from Chicago with the intention of settling in Israel. They were kidnapped during the massacre at Kibbutz Nahal Oz.

Two days later, two more hostages were released—Yocheved Lipshitz and Nurit Kuper, both women in their 80s, who had been abducted from Nir Oz.

Additionally, 81 Israeli hostages and 24 foreign workers were released as part of the deal with Hamas. In exchange, 240 terrorists were freed from prison.
