Hamas war on Israel, Haniyeh's assassination

News 12 journalist Ohad Hamo reports that Hamas has resolved to seek revenge for the killing of Haniyeh, due to Iran and Hezbollah's delay in responding. According to Hamo’s report, since Hamas is unable to retaliate from Gaza, the organization has officially decided to carry out its revenge by attacking Israelis overseas.

Earlier today, it was reported that American officials estimate that Iran has decided to significantly delay its retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on its soil. According to The Washington Post, it appears that the American show of force in the Middle East has deterred the Iranians.

The report further indicates that while Iran has opted to postpone its attack, Tehran is pressuring Hezbollah to launch a significant offensive against Israel. The newspaper reports that Hezbollah has also abandoned its initial plan to fire heavy rocket barrages at the Tel Aviv area and central cities, understanding that this could escalate the region into a full-scale war, which Hezbollah currently wishes to avoid. It is worth noting that Hezbollah has not entirely given up on revenge for the assassination of its military chief, Fuad Shukr, but the retaliation is expected to be much more controlled than initially planned. The report mentions that Nasrallah recently declared that he "swears" to avenge Shukr’s killing and has numerous methods and targets to do so.
