On Monday evening, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich voiced support for the demonstrators protesting the detention of eight IDF soldiers in Sde Teiman, who were arrested on allegations of mistreating a terrorist detainee.

"The civil protest against the severe injustice faced by these reservists is entirely justified, and I stand behind it wholeheartedly," Smotrich declared.

However, he also cautioned against unlawful actions, stating, "In contrast to the left's approach of legal defiance and civil unrest over the past year and a half, we have a duty to uphold the law and the integrity of the state." He urged demonstrators to avoid breaking into military bases and confronting soldiers and police.

"Protest within the boundaries of the law," he added, following incidents where protesters breached a military police base in Beit Lid. Chief of Staff Lt. Col. Herzi Halevi and IDF spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagari addressed the soldiers after the unrest.
