Against the backdrop of reports of an imminent Israeli response in Lebanon, the prominent Arab newspaper *Asharq Al-Awsat* has today published an extensive article on Hezbollah's tunnel network in Lebanon.

According to estimates, the article was published with the initiative of several Arab leaders to try to prevent Israel from launching a full-scale war in the north and to deter a ground operation by Israel in Lebanon.

The article states, among other things: "Hezbollah has a network of secret tunnels that is more advanced than Hamas’s network in Gaza." It further describes that "Hezbollah possesses tunnels extending for hundreds of kilometers, with branches reaching Israel and possibly beyond, extending into Syria."
