Elbit Systems has secured a substantial $190 million contract to supply the Israeli Defense Ministry with its advanced Iron Sting guided mortar munitions, the company announced.
This new deal, set to unfold over the next two years, underscores the growing global demand for precision military technology amid escalating security concerns.
Yehuda Vered, General Manager of Elbit's land division, emphasized the importance of this contract in meeting the increasing need for accurate and effective military solutions. Elbit's Iron Sting, a state-of-the-art 120mm mortar shell, utilizes both GPS and laser guidance systems to ensure pinpoint accuracy in targeting.
With a range of up to 10 kilometers, the Iron Sting mortar shell features a highly adaptable fuse system, offering options for instant detonation, delayed detonation, or explosion upon nearing the target, all configurable within 15 seconds. Its warhead is engineered to breach two layers of concrete and generate a substantial explosion, effectively scattering debris and maximizing impact.
