Unexpected: Another Heavy Blow to Yahya Sinwar

The assassination of Mohammad Deif and a significant portion of Hamas' command structure has left Sinwar almost isolated not only in Gaza but also in the Arab world: "They are not interested in what happens in Gaza."

Middle Eastern affairs researcher Adi Cohen comments on the tough situation in Gaza following the assassination of Mohammad Deif and much of Hamas' command structure. He states that besides the military strike, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has suffered an unexpected blow - the lack of interest from Arab states in his plight.

In an interview with the 'Maariv' website, Cohen said: "The Arab world, including Gulf states, is not interested in what's happening in Gaza. Gulf states are busy with summer vacations, and their people are not concerned with the Palestinian issue right now. It's summer now. In summer, they are not in their countries. They travel to Spain, to Britain."

Cohen discusses the impact of Sinwar's assassination: "It's a blow to the leadership that remains alive. It undermines their morale significantly. If I were Sinwar, I would be wondering how they knew where he was located and who provided the information. He will start suspecting everyone, which will lead to paranoia among his inner circle. It's a setback for them. I can say that with certainty."
