Coalition and opposition MKs to Biden: Withdraw sanctions against Tzav Tesha protest movement

A letter signed by the MKs notes how the movement itself voluntarily froze its operations, how Hamas does end up stealing the aid, and how it opposed violence.

Knesset Members from both coalition and opposition parties have written a public letter to President Joe Biden today (Thursday) asking that he rescind the sanctions on the leaders of the Tzav Tesha movement, which seeks to block aid into the Gaza Strip until the hostages are released.

The signatories, which include Israel Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman, State Camp MK Matan Kahana, and others, notes that the Tzav Tesha movement is a legitimate and legal protest movement operating based on democratic freedom of speech and protest.

They further note that the movement did its best to contain violence and even voluntarily froze its activity as a gesture of good will.

The letter also notes how the movement is right that the aid sent in to help Gazans often ends up in the hands of Hamas for its "murderous purposes."

The signatories ask how such sanctions can be imposed without "a proper legal process."
