US attempted assassination, Trump, Israel

"Haaretz: After Trump, we must secure the Attorney General"

Following the shocking assassination attempt on formal US president Donald Trump, Israel is calling for heightened security for those being threatened within the Israeli government, including the Prime Minister, and the attorney general.

Haaretz police correspondent, Josh Breiner, wrote on X network that if there's anything the events in the United States teach us, it's that risks cannot be taken. The conclusion: increase security around the Attorney General and members of Government.

Following the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, Haaretz writer Josh Breiner warned that leniency towards violence and incitement must not be tolerated, and security around... the Attorney General must be strengthened.

In the government meeting held this morning, they also referred to the assassination attempt on Trump and warned about the growing incitement against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A video of incitement was even screened during left-wing protests.

Minister Levin said in the meeting, "It's a miracle that what happened in the United States hasn't happened here yet. We were warned that this could happen to us. The judicial system neglected the Prime Minister." Minister Regev also said, "There's an accumulation of incitements against the Prime Minister. In a democracy, they don't burn roads or put a picture of the Prime Minister with blood on their hands. We're in an impossible reality – far too late."

Minister Ben Gvir added, "It's time to hold hearings for those preventing indictments, obstructing enforcement, and allowing incitement. Neama Zimri's documented arson is a serious offense, and the Attorney General does not approve an investigation. If it was us, would anyone doubt that there would be an investigation the next day?" Minister Shikli also joined, "The answer is the postponement of the Attorney General. I said this two weeks ago." The Prime Minister responded, "There's a normalization of incitement here."
