Earlier this week, a discussion was held in Southern Command and the Gaza Division, during which the IDF presented progress in Gaza, preparing for the conclusion of the intensive phase of the war and readiness for "Phase C."
According to Channel 12 news reporter Nir Dvori's report, during the military discussion, the political echelon was asked for another four weeks to complete the operation in Rafah, until the end of July, to address the remaining tunnels in Rafah, as well as the Philadelphia Corridor where the IDF already achieved control by the end of May.
Additionally, in preparation for potential conflict in the north, the Chief of Staff clarified that the current military achievement is sufficiently high so that if Israel needs to stop the fighting—whether due to progress in negotiating a new prisoner exchange deal or a possibility of arrangement in the north—the army will indeed be able to do so.
It is noteworthy that even if the intensive operations continue for another month, as desired by the military, IDF forces will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip but will remain in two tactical and significant focal points: the Netzarim Axis and the Rafah Crossing.
