Leftwing parties Labour and Meretz are set to merge into a new party with a new name, according to reports by Channel 12 reporter Amit Segal and The Marker.
Both parties will have representation, and Meretz, which is currently not in the Knesset, will have assured positions in the top 10 candidates in the new party's Knesset list.
The leaving of most positions for Labour reflects both the party's status as both as the party actually in the Knesset and one which no longer struggles to pass the electoral threshold thanks to Golan's leadership, as opposed to Meretz's inability to do so in most polls.
