Hezbollah’s recent escalation of aggression against Israel has focused on the utilization of suicide drones to primalily target weapons factories. These defense industries are crucial to Israel's national security, housing vital facilities such as production and assembly plants located strategically between Haifa and the northern border.
The attacks underscore Hezbollah's determination to disrupt Israel's military capabilities and inflict damage on its defense infrastructure, reported Calcalist.
In a video released last week, Hezbollah demonstrated its knowledge of critical Israeli sites, claiming that a UAV it launched flew undetected over Elbit Systems and Rafael complexes. The drone captured clear video footage of these defense facilities and other strategic locations in the Haifa area, including seaports, the naval base, and petrochemical plants. The UAV successfully returned to Lebanon without being detected by the Israeli air defense system, highlighting a concerning gap in Israel's security measures.
The threat intensified on Sunday when a "suicide UAV" was directed at the Misgav region south of Karmiel, home to Rafael's Leshem Institute, one of its two key northern sites, the other being the David Institute in the Krayot region. The air defense system intercepted the UAV, preventing any casualties or damage. However, soon after, another explosive UAV managed to evade the defenses, impacting the Hula Valley area and seriously injuring a soldier.
