Labour Party Chairman Yair Golan attacks government decision to extend reserve service period

Labor Party Chairman Yair Golan calls the present government an utter failure, saying "At the peak of the war, our incompetent government's decision severely undermines national security."

In a scathing critique during today's faction meeting in the Knesset, Yair Golan, Chairman of the Labor Party, lambasted the government's recent decision to extend military service for reservists. Golan characterized the move as a perilous choice made by a failing administration amidst ongoing conflict.

"This inept government has opted to exacerbate the burdens on our servicewomen and servicemen, both in active duty and reserves, while continuing political patronage to coalition partners, all at the expense of our sons and daughters," stated Golan adamantly.

As reported by Bezeq Live, he emphasized that, "It is imperative to act now. We must halt this deterioration and capitalize on our extraordinary military achievements to advance diplomatic initiatives and secure the release of all captives: ensuring rehabilitation for the living, and dignified burial for the fallen and wounded."

He recently voiced similar concerns on social media, when he criticized the government's ongoing failure to appoint a national project manager for the restoration of northern Israel. He wrote, "The ongoing failure of appointing a project manager for the northern restoration, appointed half a month into the war, teaches about the distorted priorities of the failed government. After abandoning the South, the Strip, and the North, the appointment of the national project manager becomes a whirlpool of corruption, abandonment, and dangerous amateurism."

He added, "Israeli citizens deserve more. We all deserve a government that deals with restoring security and civil distress - here and now. We will restore security through decisive military action and smart diplomacy. We will rehabilitate the Gaza periphery and the North, and these will be central national missions for the decade ahead."

Golan concluded with a stark warning, "Let me be clear: this protest will broaden, intensify, and gain momentum. Those unwilling to commit to an early election date will find themselves compelled by street pressure, public sentiment, and growing discontent."

The remarks underscored Golan's firm stance against what he perceives as an intensely misguided policy. The ensuing debate promises to shape the political landscape in the weeks ahead as tensions rise over the government's military decisions.
