The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Monday that over one thousand humanitarian aid trucks were stranded on the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom border crossing. According to UN officials, looting has rendered the distribution of aid too dangerous.

On Sunday, Israel announced a daily tactical pause of military activity along the road from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Salah al-Din Road before resuming its advance northward.

According to the IDF, the pause from 8am to 7pm is a joint initiative with the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) aimed at increasing the amount of humanitarian aid being delivered to Gaza.

The IDF stated that 1,400 trucks were awaiting pickup for distribution at the border crossing. As per the WSJ report, no UN trucks had arrived to collect the aid by mid-afternoon.

"Safety remains our top concern," Gaza-based United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) director Scott Anderson told the WSJ.
