The Israeli government is expected to discuss Defense Minister Yoav Galant's proposal to extend reserve service for soldiers from 40 to 41 years of age, and officers from 45 to 46 years of age this Sunday.

The bill proposal states: "With the outbreak of the events of October 7, hundreds of thousands were called up for reserve service, whose contribution to the fighting efforts is critical."

"The IDF still needs personnel in significant quantities. Accordingly, it is necessary to extend the temporary order, until December 14, 2024, as the IDF found that it is not possible at the present time to replace the reserve officers who are expected to be released due to their age with other officers, due to their qualifications."
