Perpetually in trouble: Netanyahu's (not so new) reality

Netanyahu is derided for visiting hostages who were rescued successfully, while sending condolence letters after failed rescues.

Netanyahu visited rescued hostages yesterday at the Sheba Medical Center.

Although he was greeted with joy and gratitude by the hostages and their families, he was harshly criticized by many other people. They criticized him for only showing up after a successful rescue operation and either sending condolence letters or doing nothing at all for families of fallen soldiers, victims of the Hamas massacres and hostages who were killed during failed rescue operations.

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid said that "If you are the prime minister, you are the prime minister of both successes and failures ... Disappearing when things don’t go your way is disgraceful."

As quoted by the Times of Israel, Izhar Shay's son Yaron Ori Shay was an IDF soldier murdered on October 7th while defending an Israeli community. He wrote, “I am one of those bereaved parents whom the prime minister did not bother to call. My son fell among heroes and in dying saved the lives of hundreds of citizens. But even if he had been murdered in his sleep or kidnapped from his home, a moral and honorable prime minister would have called to comfort and give strength, and to apologize that it happened on his watch."
