Opposition Leader Yair Lapid also sharply criticized the ICJ's decision to order a halt to operations in Rafah today (Friday), while also criticizing the government for failing to ensure broader support for IDF operations.

In a statement, Lapid said "the fact that the court did not the end of fighting in Hamas to the return of the hostages and Israel's right to defend itself against terrorism in its ruling - is a moral collapse and an ethical disaster.

"Israel was the one brutally attacked from Gaza and was forced to defend itself against a horrific terrorist organization which murdered children, raped women, and still fires rockets at innocent civilians.

"There is no country in the world which would not respond to such an attack in force."

Lapid then explained how the ruling was in part the fault of the government's behavior: "This ruling can and should have been prevented. A sane and professional government would have prevented insane statements by ministers, stopped criminals who burn aid trucks, and maintain quiet and effective diplomatic work.

"With proper management, we could have already been with a normalization agreement with the Saudis, with a regional coalition entering Gaza, and with broad international support for our just struggle against a murderous terrorist organization."

"With this government," Lapid finished, "we will not win."
