Defense Minister Yoav Gallant hosted National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan in his office today (Monday). The two conducted a meeting that included the Chief of Staff, the Defense Minister Director-General, the director of the IDF's Operations Directorate, Israel's American Ambassador Mike Herzog, and other senior officials.

The two discussed the progress of the war in the Gaza Strip and the various efforts to return the hostages. They also discussed the importance of magnifying the relationship between Israel and the United States given Iran's direct and indirect aggression against it.

Minister Gallant presented Sullivan with the adjustments Israel made to evacuate the Rafah population and provide them with appropriate humanitarian means. The Defense Minister stressed that expanding the Rafah ground operation was part of Israel's obligation to dismantle Hamas and return the hostages.

The two spoke of the tension on the northern border, with Gallant telling Sullivan that Hezbollah's continued aggression and refusal to reach an agreement could lead to a significant escalation, so that Israel can return the residents of the north to their homes in a changed security situation.

The two also discussed ways to strengthen Israel's strategic situation while maintaining its qualitative edge. The Defense Minister thanks the National Security Advisor for his commitment to Israel's security, and for America's standing by Israel against various threats.
