Israel-Gaza War, Humanitarian Aid

IDF responds to IPC report claiming Gaza risks "famine" by end of May

The response notes the report is too reliant on problematic sources such as the Hamas-run government and ignores steps the IDF has already taken to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF's Office for the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories or COGAT issued a response to the IPC's report of potential "famine" in the Gaza Strip by the end of May, stating that the report suffers from numerous fundamental flaws.

The response notes that the report relies on problematic data such as that reported by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health, and that at least some of its recommendations have already been carried out by the IDF.

The COGAT response then includes a link to the full response, which is simply the COGAT site documenting IDF and foreign efforts to supply Gazan civilians with all their humanitarian needs, perhaps hinting at the failure to even consult this source of information.

COGAT has also repeatedly stated that the problems that do exist with Gazan civilians not receiving aid have to do with distribution of aid by UN agencies and other NGOs, e.g.:
