Education Minister Yoav Kisch declared on X/Twitter today (Wednesday) that the winner of the Israel Prize for Solidarity would be awarded to Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, an international law scholar who has emerged as one of the main advocates in charge of documenting and proving Hamas sexual crimes.

In his statement, Minister Kisch said that "Dr. Elkayam-Levy...established a task force entitled the "Gender Crimes War Room," and promotes activity for recognition in the international arena that the actions of Hamas towards women and children fall under the category of crimes against humanity."

Education Minister Yoav Kisch previously announced that the Israel Prize for Citizen Heroism will be awarded to Menachem Kalmanson and Iti'el Zohar, members of "Team Elchanan."

Menachem, his brother Elchanan ob"m, and their cousin Iti'el Zohar left their home in Otniel on October 7 to save the lives of residents in the Gaza Perimeter during the attack. Although they were told that they weren't needed, they arrived at Kibbutz Be'eri and entered the besieged kibbutz time and again for many hours, saving dozens of residents. In the last house they entered, an ambushing terrorist fired on and killed Elchanan.
