Spending more, voting less? Credit card purchases 12% higher this election

Israel Hayom reports that credit card expenses today have risen to over 928 million NIS by 17:00, while voting rates remain about 20% below the previous round of local elections.

Israel Hayom reports that credit card purchases during local elections today (Tuesday) have reached over 986 million NIS by 17:00, an over 12% increase compared to the last election, a national one, in November 2022.

Meanwhile, voting rates in most locations continue to be significantly lower than the previous round in 2018.

Voting rates are a lot lower in the big cities – 23% in Tel Aviv, 21% in Haifa, 16.4% in Jerusalem, 20.2% in Beer Sheva, 26.1% in Ashdod, 26.2% in Bnei Brak, and 18.2% in Rishon Letziyon, as of 15:00.
