US on Israeli Protests Blocking Humanitarian Aid to Gaza: The Trucks Must Pass Through

For the past two days, protests against sending humanitarian aid to Gaza without freeing the hostages have prevented dozens of trucks carrying humanitarian aid from passing through. The US administration is not pleased.

The American administration is not pleased with the Israeli protests at Kerem Shalom crossing, which have stopped the regular flow of trucks providing aid, about 70-100 every day, from entering into Gaza for the past few days, according to Kann News reporter Amichai Stein.

According to the report, the American administration demanded that Israel open the Kerem Shalom crossing near the Egyptian border to trucks carrying humanitarian aid, as the pace of aid coming through Egypt via Rafah was not entering quickly enough and in enough numbers.

Israel complied, and 70-100 trucks have passed through the crossing ever since. However, increasing protests at the crossing, demanding that aid not go into the Strip unless hostages come out, has ground this traffic to a halt, preventing any trucks from reaching Gazan civilians.

Per Stein, the American administration, while not saying how to deal with these protests or what to do about them, has insisted to Israel that the crossing remain fully open and aid flow in as normal.

How this will happen given the likelihood of the protests becoming even bigger remains to be seen.
