Another blow to the Hamas leader in Gaza: The EU announced today (Tuesday) that it has placed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on its terror list, imposing economic sanctions on him.

According to the EU announcement, all member states can now freeze his money and assets, and a number of members including France and Britain have already done so in the wake of October 7. European parties are now also barred from providing Sinwar with funding or other financial resources.

“Choke off Hamas’ sources of funding”

Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz responded to the news by saying he “welcomes the decision of the European Union to impose sanctions on the mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, a decision adopted also thanks to the diplomatic efforts of the Foreign Ministry. This is a small part of the diplomatic campaign we are leading: to choke off Hamas’ funding sources, outlaw them, and forbid any support for them. We will continue to destroy the source of the evil, in Gaza and wherever its supporters lift their heads.”
