In the shadow of talk about the reduction of ground maneuvers, IDF spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagari stated this evening (Monday) that the fighting will continue throughout the year 2024, but emphasized regarding the northern Gaza Strip that the IDF will continue to operate there in a different order of forces.
In his statement he stated that "a few days ago I explained the activities of the IDF forces and how we dismantled Hamas in the north of the Gaza Strip. We are now working in this area in a different way to deepen the achievement. We are currently dealing with the center of the Gaza Strip and Khan Yunis. This is still an intense and complex operational activity."
Regarding the continuation of the attacks in the north, the IDF spokesman said that "we will not put up with a threat near the border, we said so and we mean it." Following the assassination this evening in Syria of the person responsible for launching the rockets of Hamas, Brigadier General Hagari emphasized that the IDF will continue to act against senior Hamas officials.
"We finished dismantling the military framework of Hamas in the north"
During the questions phase, the IDF spokesman was asked whether Israel had moved to the third stage of fighting. According to Hagari, "I think that the use of words and letters is less helpful to the Israeli public. We finished dismantling the Hamas military framework in the north. It was a significant move with a lot of forces. Now we are still operating in the north because there is still terrorism there, and we will continue to operate there in a different order of forces."
He also stated that "We are now focusing on the south and the center. This is a very significant military pressure. The action we took today in the camps of the center is difficult and complex fighting. This means one thing - the fighting continues, but it will happen in a different way. Reservists will be released, we will work to realize the objectives the war and to bring about achievements that will be tested in actions, not in words."
In another question, Brigadier General Hagari was asked whether the IDF eliminated the commander of the Radwan force, and what the preparations are for Hezbollah's response. The IDF spokesman responded that he does not refer to what is published in the foreign media. According to him, "We need to act to remove the threat on the northern border and create the conditions that will allow the residents to return home safely, and we will do it with actions, not words."
