The IDF spokesman reveals: This is how the 669 wounded rescue formation works: maneuvering in depth, activity with IDF units and helicopter preparation in the heart of the Gaza Strip and fighting. View a spectacular gallery.

The IDF spokesman reports that the fighters of Unit 669 are fighting deep in the Gaza Strip and are in every strategic place with the maneuvering forces. So far, the fighters of the unit together with the fighters of the Mobility Unit 5515 and the formation of the Air Force's Saar (transport) helicopters have evacuated over 1000 wounded during the fighting.

"Getting the wounded out of the line of fire and preparing airstrips in the field"

He further adds that dozens of teams of the 669 unit operate as an integral force in the infantry brigades and constitute an immediate rescue and primary medical treatment squad, to which mounted teams of the unit's fighters join together with the mobility unit to evacuate the wounded, take the wounded out of the line of fire and prepare improvised helicopter landing pads in the field. The helicopter unit puts the injured on the helicopter, secures the place and continues the medical treatment until they arrive at the hospitals in Israel.

Courageous and important, this of course enables soldiers to go to battle - knowing that if they are wounded they will be cared for.
