During the October 7 Hamas massacre, the security response teams of individual localities played a key role in hindering or stopping Hamas attacks, despite being cut to size by security forces. Now, the IDF plans to bolster the teams as part of a reorganization of border defense, according to Walla News reporter Yanir Yanga.

IDF sources told Yanga that they "hurt the security response teams." In order t avoid the mistakes of the past, teams will now be given new arms and equipment, which will all be individually and easily accessible, as well as armored or light vehicles in case of emergency.

The IDF will also run a pilot war room for settlements along or near the border to run 24/7 for security purposes. The IDF itself will meantime redeploy elsewhere to protect the rest of the region.

The IDF's efforts are part of a concentrated effort by the government to ensure residents of the south can return to their homes and go back to normal life - including school, work, and so on.

In addition to the aforementioned security measures, the government is offering generous benefits and grants to those who choose to go back home and rebuild.
