IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari made a statement to the media this evening (Thursday), in which he referred to today's events in the war in Gaza.
"Today we destroyed the strategic terrorist tunnel network of Hamas in the heart of Gaza City. It is a branched network of tunnels that connects several houses of senior Hamas officials that we uncovered yesterday," said Hagari. "This is taking away a strategic capability from the terrorist organization Hamas."
"Since the end of the ceasefire in the fighting, our forces have eliminated more than 2000 terrorists. The forces have been working in recent days on destroying Hamas' capabilities and terrorists," he added and noted. "We have increased the number of fighters in Khan Yunis to five brigades. We are waiting for the terrorists who are sitting above, and we are eliminating them from the air, from the land and from the sea. In the north, we have attacked several positions of Hezbollah, who endangers the residents of southern Lebanon for Hamas and Iran."
He also referred to the easing of the directives alongside the rocket barrages that continue towards the center of the country: "Besides the return to school studies, we must continue to adhere to the instructions of the Home Front Command. We see how the Iron Dome saves lives, but it is not hermetic. Stick to the guidelines."
"We don't forget how important it is to return the kidnapped people home," he emphasized. "The terrorist organization Hamas is responsible for the security of the abductees and we are putting pressure on the world to work for their release. We only trust ourselves," he concluded. "Many of the soldiers are undergoing rehabilitation, and many are dealing with mental damage that accompanies them 24/7. We want to strengthen the families of the wounded soldiers."
