Gal Hirsch Officially Appointed Envoy for Hostages for a Period of Three Years

The official government appointment, done without a tender, includes not only securing the hostages' release but also their and their families rehabilitation.

The government is set to approve the appointment of Brig.-Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch as head of the Hostages and Missing Administration Director at the government’s weekly meeting this coming Sunday. The appointment will be for three years.

Based on the opinion of Prime Minister’s Office legal adviser, Adv. Shlomit Fargo-Barnea, the appointment was done without a tender, based on a unique, one-time exemption.

Gal Hirsch had been appointed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the job on the second day of the war, but he only now being formally confirmed in his position by the full government.

Hirsch will serve as head of the administration of hostages, missing, returnees and their families at the Prime Minister’s Office. According to the job description, he will also be responsible for the families of those missing, held hostage, or released and their rehabilitation.
