The last orders of Lt. Col. Tomer Grinberg, commander of the 13th Battalion in Golani Brigade, are recorded in a communication just before the attack in Shejaiya.
After receiving the order, when he jumped to rescue the wounded fighters under fire in Shejaiya, Lt. Col. Grinberg told Golani Brigadier General, Colonel Yair Palai, "I received it perfectly fine, I say again with my whole battalion, what needs to be done, to evacuate, to capture their destination, to isolate, just bring us tasks, over".
As part of the attack on the Kasbah of Shejaiya, the fighters of the battalion combat team from the 53rd battalion encountered terrorists who fired at the force from an underground building.
The commanders of the battalions that were in the area jumped immediately upon hearing the contact report to rescue the force that was in the building. The commanders charged and returned fire to pull back the victims. As part of the battle, nine commanders and fighters who came to help and rescue the force that was inside the building were killed.
"I dreamed of this moment for nine years"
Just before leaving for Shejaiya, Lt. Col. Greenberg got in touch and shared his feelings with his soldiers: "Kodkod is ready, how long have I dreamed of saying this, I think I may have been dreaming of this moment for nine years, in the last few hours even though it almost went away. I had no doubt it wouldn't go away. We are launching an attack on Hamas's Shejaiya in the north."
Later he instilled a fighting spirit in them "We are currently going to close the account of nine years. The heroes' armor fighters were with us until the junction. Here we are launching an attack on Shejaiya, this is the most important time, do it properly, the patrol. Exit to attack Shejaiya"
