Rose Lubin, hy"d

The Midrasha Girls Visited the Grave of the Fallen Soldier

A month after the death of Rose Lubin, hy"d, in an attack in the Old City of Jerusalem, a memorial ceremony was held in which the students of the Hartman seminary shaped pebbles in her memory: "She protected us among the stones in the Old City of Jerusalem."

Girls from the Hartman seminary in Jerusalem, designed pebbles on the 30th day since the death of the late Rose Lubin. The ceremony in Rose's memory was held on Mount Herzl, attended by members of Lubin's family, her unit mates, soldiers and officers in the Border Police, and, as mentioned, students from the Hartman seminary.

As a reminder, the late Rose, 20 years old from Atlanta, immigrated to Israel alone and enlisted as a Border Police fighter. On October 7, she fought at the entrance gate to Kibbutz Sa'ad and prevented terrorists from entering, the same kibbutz where she stayed with her adoptive family. A month later, Rose was killed in an attack in the old city of Jerusalem while she was in operational activity.

The ceremony at Mount Herzl included the reading of Psalms, words of eulogy from relatives and friends, and the placing of wreaths on the grave of the late Lubin. After the ceremony, stones decorated with empowering messages were placed on her grave as well as on the graves of other war victims.

"The heroic soldier Rose Lubin, hy"d, was killed while protecting us among the Jerusalem stones in the Old City. In preparation for 30 days since her falling, we held a study in fellowship at the seminary. Together we saw that the stones have power in strengthening faith and strengthening the family," the Hartman students said.

The Jerusalem Municipality stated: "The act of recognition from the students of the Hartman seminary to Rose Lubin, hy"d, is inspiring. Rose, who fell defending the southern border and our capital Jerusalem, was an example and role model for many young women. The municipality blesses the students on their moving initiative, and thanks them for their contribution to perpetuating Rose's memory."

So moving and sweet what those girls did. I have been following Rose's story and I am happy to see she is not alone - also after her death. I wish I had known her.
