Released Abductees

The Kidnapped Siblings who Touched the Hearts of the Entire Country were Released Together to their Home

They came from captivity separately and are released together from Soroka: Maya and Itay Regev, the siblings who touched an entire country by meeting and reuniting in the hospital, were released to their home today.

21-year-old Maya Regev and 18-year-old Itay Regev arrived in Soroka last week from captivity in Gaza, separately, a few days apart. Maya arrived in Soroka after being held captive for 50 days. A dedicated multi-professional team received her and treated her in the trauma room. Social workers accompanied her family even before she arrived at the hospital.

Maya arrived with a complex injury to her leg after being shot on October 7 by terrorists. She underwent initial assessment and treatment by a multi-professional team and a few hours later was taken into the operating room. Maya's meeting with her parents and younger brother was incomplete and mixed with sadness, since Itay still remained in Gaza.

On Wednesday last week, the Regev family was informed of Itay's expected release. The exciting moment of the meeting with Itay was for the Regev family, for the teams in Soroka and for all the people of Israel a hope that came true. The staff at the hospital continued to accompany them and be by their side in the therapeutic process, physically and emotionally, with the required sensitivity.

Today Maya and Itay were released from Soroka and said goodbye to the hospital staff with great excitement. Maya will continue her rehabilitation process. The Regev family thanked all the teams that took care of all the family members, for the dedicated care, the concern, the sensitivity, the attention to every request and the medical and social envelope.

Soroka Hospital said: "We hope for the return of all the abductees in good health."
