The Hostage Deal

Israel Refused the List; Hamas Corrected and the Truce will Continue

The ceasefire that was supposed to end this morning will continue for another day, and this, after Hamas delivered to Israel a revised list that meets the terms agreed upon.

A few minutes before the end of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas brokered by Egypt and Qatar, Israel announced a short time ago that the truce would continue even though it had not yet been handed a list of hostages who would be released tonight.

An IDF spokesperson stated: "In light of the mediators' efforts to continue the process of releasing the hostages and subject to the terms of the agreement, the truce will continue."

A short time later, the Prime Minister's Office announced: "The War Cabinet unanimously decided last night that if a list is not delivered by seven o'clock this morning as agreed upon in the outline - fighting will resume immediately. A short time ago, a list of women and children was delivered to Israel in accordance with the terms of the agreement, and therefore the truce will continue."

The ceasefire was supposed to end at 7 in the morning (Israel) when by then Hamas had delivered to Israel a list containing the names of 7 Israelis - women and children - and another list of 3 dead captives. Israel refused to agree to the list because the agreement was about living hostages.

However, in light of Hamas's intention to correct the list, Israel - with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt - agreed to extend the ceasefire agreement by an additional day in exchange for 10 more hostages.
