The terrorist organization Hamas officially announces that the organization is interested in extending the ceasefire, in exchange for the release of additional hostages.
The spokesperson of the political arm of Hamas confirms in an official announcement that the organization is interested in extending the truce, according to the organization's announcement: "The Islamic resistance movement Hamas is interested in extending the truce after the end of the 4-day period."
In order to justify the proposal, Hamas announces that they will be willing to win an extension by: "Releasing a larger amount of detainees, as written in the humanitarian ceasefire agreement."
This announcement comes against the background of the release of another wave of Israeli hostages, one wave before the last wave that was agreed upon in principle within the framework of the temporary cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Now, just before the agreement expires and the fighting continues, Hamas is asking Israel for its agreement to extend the ceasefire in exchange for the release of more hostages.
