Ichud Hatzalah emergency medical teams provided medical care to and saved the life of a 92-year-old man today (Thursday), whom they say lost consciousness in his home in the Geula neighborhood of Jerusalem, after choking on his dentures, which fell into his throat as he was eating.

Chezi Roth, a medic for Ichud Hatzalah, arrived first on the scene, recalling how “with much resourcefulness, I extracted dentures from his windpipe which got stuck in his throat while eating – which may him fully suffocate and lose consciousness. After stabilizing his condition with the aid of an Ichud Hatzalah doctor which showed up, he breathed again and regained consciousness within a few minutes.”

The man’s condition is reported to be stable, and he was evacuated to the hospital for additional tests.
